As well as writing, many
authors have also been dedicated
to the visual arts. Without going
too far, we find this in the case of
Henry Miller and D.H Lawrence.
The first, considered a prestigious
painter and sculptor, had twenty
five of his paintings exhibited in
London in 1925, thirteen of them
were censored. D.H Lawrence on
the other hand enjoyed painting
watercolors mainly of landscapes.
Like these two examples, many
writers have made use of words
and art to express their meanings. Full Article By Eugenia Todelo-Keyer
Movie Review:
“American Gangster”
almost lives up to its hype
Todd Ellertson
Honduras This Week
I remember seeing tons of
press when “American Gangster”
made its debut in the U.S. The
film includes three Oscar-winning
actors (Russell Crowe, Denzel
Washington, and Cuba Gooding,
Jr.) and is directed by Ridley Scott,
who directed “Gladiator,” among
others. Its screenwriter, Steve
Zallian, also wrote the screenplay
for “Schindler’s List.”
This film has
what is called ‘pedigree.’ It’s based
on the true story of a successful
Harlem drug lord and the cop who
hunted and brought him down. Full Article By Todd Ellertson

A SINCERE PLEA TO THE POWERS THAT BE
In the recent past, HTW has published numerous articles concerning
the magnificent potential Roatan has to offer both foreign and local
investors. We have warned of situations impeding investor progress, and
we have tried to foresee future problems. Once more we would point out
an eminent danger that could continue to discourage investment here,
and send the developers to Panama, Nicaragua or Costa Rico, where in a
matter of hours they can become a legitimate force in the economy. By Don Pearly

A study by the Honduran
Central Bank indicates that Gross
Domestic Product (PIB, in Spanish)
reached $1,635 in 2007. The PIB
is obtained by dividing the Gross
Domestic Product by the number of
inhabitants in Honduras (7,538,235).
To compare, the other countries
of Central America registered the
following PIB’s in 2007; Guatemala
$2,238, El Salvador $2,727;
Nicaragua $942; Costa Rica $5,018;
and Panama $5,481. The importance
of tourism in Central America
should not be underestimated. In
Costa Rica for example, 17% of the
PIB is comprised by tourism. In
Mexico the figure is 15%.Full Article

The phenomenon that is Barack
Obama’s campaign for the U.S.
presidency is due in no small
measure to the coming of age of
a relatively new and powerful
Internet tool called Youtube.
Youtube allows anyone to upload
and download video clips online
for free. In the absence of this
tool, it would have been infinitely
more problematic for so many
people (especially young people)
in the U.S. to have gotten to know
Senator Obama so quickly, so
personally, and so extensively. Full Article By Marco Cáceres
